cinematographer and photographer based in berlin
Henk Otte grew up in the Netherlands and studied photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. After graduating, he moved to Berlin and began working as a DoP. Though evident all over his opus, it is especially his black and white films that tell us of his striking fascination with light. He created a personal cinematic language to explore themes in an essayistic way, finding and redeveloping his own approach for each new project. Although focusing on film, he never seems to grow tired of photography. Not only does he shoot portraiture work in the fields of culture and fashion, but also published the photo book "Citizen of Two Worlds" together with his brother which was selected by Dutch newspaper „de Volkskrant“ as one of the best photography books in 2018.
